Documentation edit

This review script is a rewritten and extended version of Patstuart's Flickrreview script. You may add it to your vector.js:

importScript('User:ZooFari/licensereviewer.js');

Some bugs from the Flickrreview script have been fixed. Please report any errors or suggestions in a new section below.

License + edit

  • License review passed - If the license and author correspond to the one on the external album site, use the "license +" tab to mark the file as reviewed. It will replace {{Flickrreview}} (or similar template) with {{tl[|flickrreview|user|date}}. {{LicenseReview}} is now supported as well, but will not work if it has parameters filled in. The script will ask you for the source link, so copy it before hitting the tab for LicenseReview.
  • No template detected - If a pending review template such as {{Panoramioreview}} is not detected in the edit page, a dialogue will open for you to select Flickr, Panoramio, etc. It will add a successfully reviewed template at the bottom of the page. May not be convenient if the license is not the last content of the page.
  • Auto-internationalise - This tab also has automatic internationalisation:
replaces ==Summary== with =={{int:filedesc}}==
replaces ==Licensing== with =={{int:license}}==

You can also use this tab to remove Category:PD files for review when reviewing PD files (note you don't have to have the image-reviewer right for this).

License - edit

This tab is a dialogue (unless it is IndiaFM review, which will automatically tag and save). There are three actions:

  • If the source is not indicated: Select "No source indicated" in the drop-down selection. This only works for Flickr and Panoramio. It tags {{Flickr no source}} or {{Panoramio no source}} along with {{Nsd}} to Flickr/Panoramio files in which the source was not found. Since there is no Picasa template for unsourced files yet, this script won't work for those.
  • If the file is unfree: If the license doesn't correspond to the one on the external album site and is unfree, select the unfree license in the drop-down selection. Picasa and Panoramio files will be tagged unfree in the format {{Picasareview|ZooFari|YYYY-MM-DD|All rights reserved}}. Flickr files, on the other hand, will remove the {{Flickrreview}} tag and replace it with the {{Unfree Flickr file}} tag. Since {{Unfree Flickr file}} is now a speedy deletion template, admins may rather delete the image on sight. Regardless of how it is handled, both admins and reviewers must notify the uploader with {{Unfreeflickrnote}}.
  • If the Flickr file is unfree but has an open deletion request, {{OTRS pending}}, or anything else that might exempt the file from speedy deletion: Select the license followed by (Puf) in the drop-down selection. This will add the {{Flickrreview|ZooFari|YYYY-MM-DD|All rights reserved}} tag that places the file in Category:Possibly unfree Flickr images where the file won't be speedy deleted.

[change license] edit

Above all Flickr, Panoramio, and Picasa unreviewed templates is a link that looks like [change license] . It is there to easily change the license between {{Flickr-no known copyright restrictions}}, {{Cc-by-sa-2.0}}, {{Cc-by-sa-3.0}}, and other common forms of review licenses. It only changes the license but does not review the file, at least not at the moment. Also, it does not support license templates within {{Self}} because such files indicate that the uploader is the owner. This can mean that they do not need Flickr reviewing and thus need further analysis by the reviewer. If there are, however, license templates other than the basic {{Cc-by}} that is not supported by the script, drop a note below and I'll look into it.

Bugs edit

There are known bugs.

  • When reviewing for LicenseReview, the script won't work if it has parameters. Example: {{LicenseReview|site=http://google.com/}}. The template must be {{LicenseReview}} or one of the capitalisation variants.
  • When tagging copyvio for Flickr, the script does not notify the uploader. You must do so and admins need to do so as well even if deleting on sight. The template used is at {{Unfreeflickrnote}}. Anyone out there who can crack up a notification script?
  • If you fail a non-Flickr file, such as a Panoramio file, and it has the word "Flickr" anywhere on the page, the script will interpret that as a Flickr file.

Other scripts edit

Other scripts that you may use as well. They are obsolete, but some features may be preferred.

Flickrreview script edit

importScript('User:Patstuart/Flickrreview.js');

  • original script
  • tags {{Copyvio}};
  • does not work for files tagged with {{Flickrreview/human}}
  • tabs read "flickr passed" and "flickr cv"

Picasareview script edit

importScript('User:ZooFari/picasareview.js');

  • derivative script
  • tags {{Npd}} and {{picasareview|UserName|Date|NC, ND, or All Rights Reserved}}
  • tabs read "picasa ok" and "picasa np"

Discussion edit

You may want to change the I in "image-reviewer" in the script to a capital, because the group name is "Image-reviewer". Just a suggestion. --Bsadowski1 20:47, 27 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

User:DieBuche made some fixes, which didn't include the caps change. Therefore I'm not sure if it has some effect, so I'll wait and see if a user reports a bug. ZooFari 23:42, 27 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
I actually think I'll remove that part again. Creating an abuse-filter rule is cleaner and would also catch cases where your script is not used--DieBuche (talk) 23:46, 27 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
changed it, JS should return that as false, afaik variable name are case sensitive--DieBuche (talk) 23:49, 27 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

This script doesn't appear to work properly for me anymore. It stopped working a few days ago. If I come across an image that passes, and click the "license +" tab, it will open the edit window, but it won't change any of the text, or save the edit. It just sits there with the edit window open. I'm using Firefox 3.6.8 if that matters. I've emptied my cache but that doesn't fix it. Any ideas/suggestions?--Rockfang (talk) 02:26, 31 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Same issue I'm having. It would be nice for it to work again. --Bsadowski1 09:27, 31 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Reverted recent edits, a abuse filter is now monitoring this. I tested once, seems to work again--DieBuche (talk) 19:00, 31 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! It now works again. --Bsadowski1 21:56, 31 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

An odd license removal edit

Howdy. I'm not sure why it happened, but with this edit, the script removed the license. Any ideas?--Rockfang (talk) 02:37, 6 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Known bug, but I don't know how to fix it yet. The license should be above the flickrreview template anyways, as it reads "license above". But I'll look into the issue, for now just keep an eye on the location of the template. ZooFari 15:35, 7 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
It's probably using a 'greedy' regex, you should use something like .*?}} instead--DieBuche (talk) 15:45, 7 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Changed, and resolves the problem. Thanks DieBuche. ZooFari 21:05, 7 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thank you both.--Rockfang (talk) 06:20, 8 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Odd behavior, removing characters not related to Picasa Review section edit

Take a look at these edits [1], [2], [3], [4]. I have never seen Commons version is bigger than Picasa version, something weird going on in a Picasareview tag before, could it be related to that?? --Captain-tucker (talk) 10:07, 20 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Actually it was a recent change to the script that didn't work. Reverted those changes, should work again. ZooFari 21:47, 20 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Rewrite coming soon edit

I am currently rewriting this script to be more convenient and remove redundancies (like the heading-i18n). This will also include an auto-check of the blacklisted flickr-uploaders and much more could be added. I write this here to prevent other users making the same effort ;-) -- RE rillke questions? 11:41, 4 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

User:Rillke/LicenseReview.js. For benefits see history. -- RE rillke questions? 15:29, 4 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
It would be also easy to automatically open the web-site offered in the source-section in an iframe (maybe as a jQuery dialog, which also provides the things you have to look for: the author, the license and a thumbnail of the image). Is this feature desired?
Additionally there could be an auto-google-search for the image to find flickr-washing in the same manner.
I suggest a step-by-step wizard. Here is the draft:
  • Only one button: License-review which opens a wizard
  1. Wizard opens the source-site (if specified, if not, ask the reviewer for inserting) in an iframe/dialog and presents the data necessary for commons in textfields so you can make corrections. Additionally wizard checks whether the author is blacklisted and displays the warning in a non-modal way, if so.
  2. There are now "Matches and Compatible" or "Unfree" buttons.
  3. When passed is clicked, a google image-search is opened in a new iframe while the old iframe containing the source is removed. Additionally wizard displays some help about FoP, derivative works or at least a reminder.
  4. There are now "All right", "x-washing!" or "Unfree derivative" buttons.
  5. When "Ok" is clicked, save the page.

So tell me your thoughts, please. It will need some time to hack this but it could be of some use since there are lots of traps in the process. Thank you. -- RE rillke questions? 16:44, 5 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sounds good and useful. But perhaps you should bring it up at Commons talk:License review for input from all image reviewers. Thanks for the work Rillke. --ZooFari 03:19, 10 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Blanking edit

I recommend blanking this script so editors don't end up using it by accident (instead of User:Rillke/LicenseReview.js). Thoughts? czar 20:31, 29 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Czar: you mean the script is fully deprecated? ZooFari is pretty inactive, I could make a redirect with a deprecation warning!? -- User: Perhelion 20:03, 28 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
I don't remember my original context for posting this, but I probably wasted a lot of time not knowing that Rillke's script had replaced ZooFari's. I think your deprecation warning would be a good idea czar 20:08, 28 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
  Done -- User: Perhelion 20:31, 28 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
